Sample Cover Letter

There are different schools of thought regarding Cover Letters and their place in today’s job search strategies. Nevertheless, I am enclosing a sample cover letter for a Managerial/Directorial position that can make a positive impact. Here goes:

Now as I embark on my next career challenge, my job search has led me to your established organization. It is my understanding that you are looking for a seasoned finance professional with an exceptional track record of increasing the bottom line and improving operational performance.

With a “big picture” focus combined with 20+ years’ experience driving companies to success as a diverse and talented business strategist, I am not your everyday finance professional. Permit me to provide you with some insight into the value I offer:

Most recently as Controller for XYZ Group of Companies, a multinational holding company with investments in various communications, staffing, and investment companies, I had many successes. With accountability for $100 million, I was instrumental in skyrocketing revenues by 30%. In partnership with the CEO, we spearheaded a total of seven mergers and acquisitions. Furthermore, I possess a charismatic and engaging leadership style and have developed a reputation as an ambassador for change, while living corporate values.

Whether or not, one should use a cover letter is a discussion for another time. However, in case you do use Cover Letters with your applications for jobs, this might be a good one.
